Atman – Zen Term

The inner divine Self, or Soul. Individual soul; the Self, one’s spirit. The highest or true self as distinct from the consciousness of ego. There is no difference between atman and paramatman except that caused by maya. The Atman (Self deep inside) is not necessarily embodied. Also taught to be the same as Brahman.
